Period 6 booking information for the Autumn Term 2026
Welcome to the exciting world of Period 6 at the Sherwood Church Academy, where the bell marking the end of the school day is just the start of new adventures!
Period 6 isn't like your regular classes – it's your chance to dive into activities that spark your interests, talents, and maybe even discover a new hobby. It's all about exploring, creating, and having fun while learning something that might not be in your regular school lessons.
What you need to know about Period 6

Period 6 is held after school between 14.50- 15.40pm – think of it as a bonus round of school where you get to choose the game.
- It's compulsory for Year 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11.
- Years 7 - 10 have a fun range of activities to choose from on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Every term, you get to pick a new activity (except for Art Club and CCF - these are year long commitments).
- Years 8, 9 & 10 start their period 6 from the week starting 14th September 2026.
- Year 7 start their period 6 from the week starting 2nd November 2026.
- Autumn term period 6 for years 7-10 runs until 12th December 2026.
- Year 11's Period 6 will focus on interventions in the subjects you most need extra support. You don't need to book these, they will be allocated.
Remember, Period 6 is all about trying new things and finding what you love, so give it a go - you might find your new passion!
How to book your period 6 Club
- Period 6 booking for years 8, 9 & 10 for the Autumn Term 2026 will be open between 7pm on Friday 4th September and 9pm on Monday 7th September.
- Period 6 booking for year 7 for the Autumn Term 2026 will be open between 7pm on Thursday 1st October and 9pm on Monday 5th October.
- To book onto the clubs please use the MCAS app.
- If your child is not booked in for any Period 6 activity, they will be automatically allocated one, so please ensure you have chosen during the open booking week.
- Students must only select ONE Club to ensure every student secures a place.

Thursday
- Combined Cadet Force - years 8, 9 & 10 (whole year commitment)
- Combined Cadet Force Taster - year 7 only and requires booking each term
- Key Stage 4 Homework Club (year 10)
- SEND Homework Club
- Ski Fit (only for students on ski trip)
- Fencing - second half-term and year 7s only
- Craft Club
- Lego Club
Friday
- Art Club Bronze Award - year long commitment - years 7, 8 & 9 only
- Band Club - years 9 & 10
- Dance Elite - years 9 & 10
